Before that, he earned a bachelor of arts in political science, graduating cum laude from the University of Texas at Arlington.
He is a Tarrant Country based attorney, having handled family law cases for a small civil trial law firm and then for his own solo practice, in the city of Fort Worth, before joining KoonsFuller.
